free food as in mainly the basics. like the main grains. per say, corn rice flower and beans veggies and mainly the stuff that is in the vegetable section at the store.
Obviously you can never have all food free (poor choice of words on my part), but what about the main things?
example: ive been living off of rice veggies and spices, for about 20 years. not often i would eat meat, and never fast food
Logically the price of other foods would go up. like say double, to cover something, i don't know.
fast food and restaurants would still be payed for. since i imagine its a slightly different market. however if you get a TV diner you would have to buy that. Can-food as well. just the things that are ready to go from scratch.
Example the main grains, rices wheat and the dry beans and veggies.
now again i forgot to put somethings in this. it would be free in the shorter view. i was thinking more along the lines of people paying it via taxes.
now it only works in a technologically advanced society. since most of all of the farms today are still man run. but since the idea of the food printer and the concept of the Biosphere, why would it be hard to have food manufactured and thus free. minus the tax fee.
i say technologically advanced because it would eliminate competition via the manufacturer, or unite them ( to work on that project and maintain it, hens taxes)
now yes it would cost jobs. but it would open new ones as well.
