Who is the greatest superhero around?

Think about a variety of characteristics: personality, costume, strengths and weaknesses, powers or gadgets, or other things.

I like Captain America he is a super soldier fights for his country and he is a master strategist that means he is good at battle strategies, hand to hand combat, agility, run faster, 2x the amount of human strength and can throw his shield into angles and make it ricochet off objects

I like Batman since first of all, he has the storyline closest to reality aside from Iron Man. Plus he is secretive and only helps the others in need with out fame and b.

I like batman quite a bit myself. But while his relative realism makes him easier to identify with and he is arguably more inspirational, is this the same thing as "great"? Granted, "great" is a highly subjective term, but when I think about it, I think about who I would most want protecting my city if these heroes were actually around. Batman is awesome, but he wouldn't really be that much more effective than a well trained and equipped cop. Most heroes with powers could do more good than him, and the truly powerful ones like Superman, GL and Thor could almost certainly save more lives and prevent crime.

So in my eyes, they are greater than Batman, even though I like his character more.

Jame Heller in Prototype.the minimum length for an argument is 50 characters. The purpose of this restriction is to cut down on the amount of dumb jokes, so we can keep the quality of debate and discourse as high as possible.

Iron Man is the best superhero because he has a sense of humor, has an awesome suit, is a millionaire, and has cool gadgets that are part of his suit.

Wolverine is the best hard as nails, mutant healing power and metal reinforced skeleton so he's nearly indestructible

Even though he isn't my favorite, Superman is a pretty clear answer. Extremely powerful, moral and determined, a natural leader, and the character that defined the concept of Superhero waaay back in the 30s.

Yes, I agree with that. Even if Im not a superman fan, I still like the thought that even superheroes have their own weaknesses. More or less, thats the reality in our world. Some people are strong, but then, at times, there would be things that could hinder us from our own capabilities.

As far as "Superman" style superheroes go, I prefer the Martian Manhunter. Sure he was a superman rip-off to begin with, but he acts more alien, has a cooler set of powers, and his weakness is fire. Some have claimed that such a "mundane" weakness is pretty lame for such a powerful character, but I don't much like getting burned either so I can identify with it a lot more than a green fictional rock.

But even though I like MM better, Superman is indisputably more iconic.

I have to pick Mr. Incredible because out of all the superheroes already mentioned, he is the only one that's round. He is the greatest superhero that's round.. ;)

Funny. But there are even...rounder...super-folks around...http://www.comicvine.com/bouncing-boy/29-21506/

OK..., you win ;)

Diplomatically, a mother is the greatest superhero on earth.

However, in the context of this debate, I would place the hulk as the greatest superhero around. He is nearly indestructible, and with the growing control Dr. Banner has over him in the recent movies, he will soon be the most powerful of all.

In my opinion. Superman. No one can compare with him because his super powers are the greatest.
