This is why occasionally you need leaders from both parties to balance the situation out. Decisions that the Democrats have made while in office has helped the Republican party evolve. The Republicans aren't going to purposefully do anything to cost them votes, so the important social changes that the Democrats have made will stick.

For that I would have to go into the history of conservatism itself, and have to go into the psychological mind set of a person who follows that ideology, for now Ill just link you a video on conservatism.
I saw the first half of this video before, I tuned out. Now I have finished seeing it, I don't how you've actually shown that people having conservative views are more prone to corruption due to it.
Not all conservatives are corrupt, my point is people that follow a conservative mind set tend to be fixed on there ways, they lack the mind set of progression or letting go of the past, (if it isn't broke for them why fix it),the conservative mind set is what leads to so much resistance, prime examples are the freeing of the slave, the civil rights movement and so on, and in today's America we can see this with the the attempt to restrict homosexuals equal freedom.
To be a conservative is to (conserve), for better for worse a conservative will be very reluctant to any change and at times hinders and harm others due to there underlining principal.
The bible is a perfect example of conservative thinking, it took us more then 2 thousand years for most humans to agree that slavery is wrong, this took so long because of the conservative mind set many people of the world held toward the owning of other human beings, I am sure many deep down inside knew it was wrong but they turned a blind eye in order to preserve there traditions, greed or flat out self preservation, this is what true conservatism lead to. Humans need to shed conservatism in order to truly reach our fullest potential, we as a human species would be exploring and colonizing other planets by now if it wasn't for conservative principals hindering progression throughout history.

You're misunderstanding what conservatism means. The point isn't simply to slow progress down, but to conserve what we have already. There is nothing in the ideology that says that we have to hold onto to everything as is and move as slowly as possible, if at all.

It depends on the conservative. If anything, people pushing religion into government is not the real concern, it's reflective of the real problem with our society, which is the religion itself.
I agree so long as thats the case, (President John Kennedy was a hard core Catholic, but he knew to keep religion and government apart, unlike the Jesus Tea Party of today) as we can see with religion in today's government, religion has wayyyyyyyy to much power and pull, look what they are trying to do with gays, so at this point its to damn risky to trust any person with religious convictions in todays politics.

Like not allowing gay marriage? Well, while I do agree that gays should be allowed to get married, you have to wonder why they'd want to take part in a religious tradition in the first place.
