The Suicide: Who Betrayed Who?

"A couple decided to commit suicide by jumping off of a building. They counted to 3 and the woman jumped but the man did not. After a few seconds of her falling, the man saw the woman pull out a parachute. Who betrayed who (the most)?"

This is not my own idea, I saw this question online and I want to see who can be the most convincing. Did the man betray the woman? Did the woman betray the man? Tell me what you think.

I agree with Cartman - whomever convinced the other to do this suicide pact really is the lead betrayer.

But, if I go on the assumption they seemed to decide together to do this then it's the woman who is the lead betrayer, because the presence of the parachute shows premeditation to ensure her own survival. In comparison, although it's possible the man never did plan on jumping it's also possible he just lost his nerve at the last second, which would be a more minor betrayal than sneaking along a parachute.

Ironically, the fact they both survived, possibly through treachery, is evidence they're actually right for each other.

It was the woman who was the double-crosser. The man was only being polite by following protocol and letting the lady go first. It wasn't his fault that his foot became snagged in some heavy foliage just as he was about to jump.

Whoever suggested that they commit suicide together is the one who did the betraying.

The woman betrayed the man. She never planned on dying in the first place.

But you have no idea if the man was actually ever going to jump.

They're both losers.

Cowardly losers.

Suicide is for cowards.

(unless in the case of terminal and chronic, unbearable pain, maybe.)

But the woman was worse. Since she had a 'chute it shows here deception was pre-planned. Whereas the man coulda just got a sudden case of cold feet at the least second, after having entered into the suicide pact with true intentions.

If I was the guy? After I walked up to that bitch when she was on the ground after parachuting, I woulda punched her in the face as hard as I could and then kicked her like a whipped dog when she was on the ground. Then laughed, spit on her, walked away, and left her.

betrayal assumes they would follow the contract. neither did, so they both betrayed each other equally, the method by which they evaded the contract is irrelevant. and the premeditation of either is also irrelevant. as the woman's goal might have been to keep a hold of him and parachute them both down, and the man might have just had cold feet.
