Thoughts on spoilers.

When you're anticipating reading a new book, watching a new movie, playing a new game, etc-

Do you tend to avoid spoilers like the plague, hoping to enjoy an untarnished experience?

Or do you read spoilers, synopses, reviews, etc etc ahead of time?

I'm aware that this is a false dichotomy and it's possible to do neither, but there are only two debate options.

It's like a vagina, you always want some camel-toe just to get your libido going.

I actually prefer to give myself spoilers sometimes. I'd rather get a vague idea of how a story is going to progress and develop before I commit to spending my time and money on it.

Besides, vague spoilers don't really tell you how the whole thing is executed. I may lose some surprise value, but I can still be impressed.

That being said, I always check with people before I drop spoilers just because so many people hate it.

I really don't mind a spoiler. A spoiler is not going to ruin a movie for me.

Side: I need a sneak preview!

I prefer to go into a new book, etc. without spoilers. In some (though not all) cases, spoilers have ruined the entire experience for me, and I can't say I've ever had my experience improved by spoilers.

I prefer to go into a new book, etc. without spoilers.

But you also prefer to watch the movie before reading the book?

I try to avoid spoilers, but sometimes I accidentally come across them. For example, I'm currently reading Angels & Demons. I saw the movie a long time ago and forgot what it was about. Well, I recently decided to look it up to see which actors played which characters. I ended up remembering that one actor played the bad guy... and I saw which character he played. That sucks because in the book he appears to be a good guy, so I just ruined the twist.

Well, I generally want to both read the book and see the movie. In my experience, the book tends to spoil the entire movie, whereas there is often much to be found in the book that is somewhat new. Not always the case though.

I can understand if it may appear inconsistent- but whether I read the book first or watch the movie first, I avoid spoilers before the first. One can't have both spoiler free, after all. It probably also helps that I don't tend to follow actors at all :)

Ah, well I just looked up the actors to give a face to the characters. However, I've found that even when I do that, I end up picturing someone else anyways lol.

People should keep it to themselves and let people find out about what happens in the movies, video games, books, etc.
