Please let me know how directly quoting the Bible is at all ignorant. Making assumptions on a particular religion and stating them as fact is very ignorant.
I am actively calling out the dehumanizing acts that the Bible promotes all while being a person of Christian faith.
However, I am a Christian that believes in religious freedom, and does not let the Bible decide every move that I will make.
If you, NowASaint, call yourself a follower of Christ then follow the teachings of Jesus. Because last time I checked the Bible was written by Moses.
You do understand that all of the success you are seeing is a result of the Obama administration correct? Trump's budget does not go into place until the 2018 fiscal year. Therefore, in case you missed it, he is not at all responsible for any of the growth you are seeing.
This argument can be made in regards to any religion. I mean look at the Holy Bible, which seems to be the talking point of millions of people.
Here are a few Bible verses that seem to directly contradict the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Leviticus 25: 44-46
44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. 46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.
Deuteronomy 21: 18-21
18 If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. 20 They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.” 21 Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.
17 “Say to Aaron: ‘For the generations to come none of your descendants who has a defect may come near to offer the food of his God. 18 No man who has any defect may come near: no man who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed; 19 no man with a crippled foot or hand, 20 or who is a hunchback or a dwarf, or who has any eye defect, or who has festering or running sores or damaged testicles. 21 No descendant of Aaron the priest who has any defect is to come near to present the food offerings to the Lord. He has a defect; he must not come near to offer the food of his God. 22 He may eat the most holy food of his God, as well as the holy food; 23 yet because of his defect, he must not go near the curtain or approach the altar, and so desecrate my sanctuary. I am the Lord, who makes them holy.’”
As you can see from the examples above. There is hate, discrimination, pedophilia, rape, and slavery in every religion. A religious book, or how a prophet views certain people does not define someone or their religion.
I identify as a "leftist" and I do not consider religion to be a mental illness. However, I believe everyone has the right to their own beliefs. This all being said, I think you're missing the point of this debate. From your argument it has become clear that you are denying the existence of mental illnesses. Please clarify your point, because as of now, you don't have one.
