Winning Position: No!!
Shouldn't perfume be banned from the workplace? How horrible is it to work next to someone that has doused theirselves in chemicals? Those tiny molecules float around and get in your eyes and lungs and it can't be good for you. It's man-made chemicals! Don't we have enough pollution without adding more chemicals to the air? Ask yourself would you spray that in your eyes? Would you hold the bottle up and drink it? No? Then why in the world would you want to spray it on your skin? Anything you put on your skin is being absorbed into your body wrecking havoc with your cells. It can't be healthy to be breathing in that all the time. Ever enter an elevator and been assaulted by the perfume from a person long gone? Or walked into work and taken the same sidewalk as someone that you can smell the perfume long after they are gone? Guess what, those chemicals are now in your lungs. Anyone out there sitting by someone at work wearing perfume and you're getting red, watery eyes and runny nose and if you think it's allergies or a cold, well it may just be a reaction to all the perfume chemicals in the air. Or how about headaches or migraines? Perfume is definitely a migraine trigger. We can avoid the ones wearing it in restaurants, grocery stores, etc by moving to another table or getting into a different line at the store, but the majority of us have to work to pay bills and it's really sad when you have to leave jobs cause there is too much perfume being worn in the workplace. They banned smoking cause it was dangerous and bad for the others around them, now why can't they ban perfume at least in the workplace? They can't do allergy tests for reactions to perfume cause the molecules are too small, but next time you pick up that bottle of perfume to spray it on, think about what's inside it and what it's doing to you (and to your co-worker that may be in misery because of you).
