One possibility is that multiple realities overlap each other and we are trapped in the illusion that the universe consists of what it does because that is the only thing that registers for us. A being from another state of reality might look at a star and see something entirely different from what we see, or perhaps detect nothing at all and move right through it unaffected. If you could see what underlies all the "realities" then that would be objective reality.
There are a few things that sway me toward simulation theory but one of the strongest is the fact that there is experimental evidence time moves in increments at the quantum level.
As I see it that could mean one of two things. Either we are definitely in a simulation or they are making the mistake of trusting mathematics too much without observation. When you rely on mathematics as heavily as we do for theoretical physics, everything has to fundamentally be quantifiable and come in bits and increments. The left wing censorship thing is just a manifestation of state leftists who are more on the authoritarian side. Real radical leftists don't support censorship. It's the right that claims they are for free speech while they shut down the speech of dissenters.
