Fur in Fashion: Is it Beauty or Cruelty?

With high fashion designers creating beautiful pieces from fur and exotic skins, and the love for warm winter clothes that make you look and feel gorgeous is it okay to buy and wear fur?

Or is it cruel and heartless to take a helpless animal's skin just so we can look good?

With a growing awareness surrounding the disgusting conditions and methods used on so many fur farms around the world, what is the future of the fur industry?

Take a look at these links-

Not necessarily. Leather is often a by product of meat such as with cows. Animals are often killed just for their fur.

Not all the time with Ostrich their bred for their hide and feathers the meat accounts for 20% of the final product and the meat from a lot of animals that are bred for Leather would be inedible and those lovely soft leather shoes thats from Veal Calves. Still feel self rightous about Fur?

I can understand the need to use animals in medicine testing (usually), but to use them as outfits? I absolutely hate that. It's unnecessary. Why do we need to kill all these animals just so we can throw on some superficial outfit for a day? It's just wrong... I generally don't get the whole deal with "fashion", but I believe this is one line that fashion industries cross.

They probably don't kill the animals just for the furs they probably also use the meat for food.

Skinwalkers. Fur is just a bonus.

I would wear fur simply because PETA are a bunch of hypocritical lunatics. They euthanize more animals then... normal euthanasia centers!

Also, there's nothing cruel about killing unintelligent animals as long as you A. Don't decimate their populations, and B. Don't make their deaths long and painful (you sick fuck).

Peta are one of the worst, they euthanize the majority of the animals brought to them even healthy ones that could easily be rehomed

They would rather euthanize animals then allow them to be pets.

It's fucking sickening.

I have a hat made out of roadkill and I love it! At least the little bastard didn't go to waste.

Here I have to vote for beauty. Furs are elegant, have style, are and are natural, as well are they durable. If we look at the increasing number of fur heels, we have to buy a large needy fur again and carry it. Here I can not exclude myself.

fur has long been prized for its luxurious texture and insulating properties, making it a coveted material in the fashion world. For centuries, it has been used to create timeless garments that exude elegance and sophistication.

Imagine if it was your own pet? Your dog or cat. Most people agree that pets do have personalities and feel emotional attachment to these animals because of this. Is it any different to kill a fox for a coat than to kill your dog because somebody likes it fur and wants to wear it?

Do you wear leather, use makeup, medicine or eat meat? All of these things are obtained by either killing or treating animals inhumanely

There are videos showing the slaughter of animals in china purely for fur, with them then burning the bodies. How is this right. on one video an animal is alive for almost two minutes after the skinning of their fur, we have evolved from monkeys, it's impossible to say they have no feelings. Just because they don't communicate like us does not mean they are not feeling pain. This is disgusting and it should be banned throughout the world.

its deffinatly wrong, i mean its just like killing us for our skin, would you still agree with it? i mean they encage the animals and then once they are weak enough, they do the process of toturing them to take there fur of, and then they feed the bodies to the other animals who are encaged and are next!!! i mean with chickens..it may sound horrible but they smash there beaks against the floor and with monkeys, they drill into there heads while they are concoius, so cruel!! I MEAN...for me, having the thought of wearing a fox or a monkey or any animal fur on me, is really disturbing and disgusting...i couldnt stand it!!!!

Behind the glamour lies a darker reality: the suffering of countless animals subjected to inhumane treatment in the name of fashion.
