Should the USA Reinstitute the Draft?
Should the USA reinstitute the military Draft? Also, please explain whether or not you think women should be equally included in conscription to the military.
You say it's everyone's business but 99.99% of the nation had no say in what you're drafting them to die for.
Hello GL:
Nahhh. We live in a representative democracy. You are represented. You have a voice. You may NOT choose to exercise it, or you may not know the power of your voice. But, it's simply NOT true to say, that you have NO say..
Once WE, as a nation, have collectively spoken (voted), as a nation, we SPEAK to the world with one voice.
Bullshit. If you live in a "representative democracy" then why is 90 percent of the wealth owned by the richest 10 percent of people? You are telling me the democratic majority wants that?
We live in a representative democracy.. It's NOT a rose garden.. Democracy is HARD, it's FRAGILE, and it takes a LOT of work to keep it..
A couple years ago, some pissed off right winger could have sniveled that we DON'T live in a representative democracy because we're giving away ALL our wealth to the poor.. And, with NO sense of irony, you probably would have argued with him, too.
But I've just challenged that it is representative. Simply repeating the same claim I've just challenged won't get you anywhere.
Democracy is HARD, it's FRAGILE
Well which is it? Hard or fragile?

I'll play silly word games with you ONE time, even though your ignorance is wearing thin.. I call a representative democracy a representative democracy because it IS one, just like a bowl of cherries IS a bowl of cherries..
Democracy IS hard AND fragile.. What's so difficult to understand about that???
Aren't YOU the guy who's trying to TAKE votes away from people??? You ARE, aren't you?? Why would ANYONE believe you understand anything about democracy??
I call a representative democracy a representative democracy because it IS one
Repeating the claim a third time will not help either, even if you use caps lock.
According to the United States Census Bureau, in 2015 there were 43.1 million people living in poverty in the United States. Do you think any of them would agree with you that American "democracy" represents their best interests?
Have a good long think before you answer, my silly little child.
Referenda are necessary on huge matters like a nonconsensual draft for a war that they never voted knowing would be decided this or that way depending the party.

We live in a very limited form of Representative Democracy (this term fails to accurately capture our system) that is much more of an Oligarchy/Plutocracy. Are you familiar with the Princeton Study on the American Political System? Also, a good book on this topic is titled Democracy Inc. by Sheldon Woolin.

I guess it's like putting 20 monkeys in a room with a bunch of word processors. Eventually, they are gonna say something intelligent.
There should only be a draft if it is a matter of absolute necessity in the interest of national security.
Every war america has engaged in within the course of the last 50-60 years was a mater of globalism.
This is why Antrim is such a dim witted neanderthal barbarian, he glamorizes war and sees it as a patriotic duty to willingly and gladly except any draft without question or you are a "coward" but what he doesn't realize is that number 1 america is totally compromised and controlled by a multinational banking cartel that controls the american economy and has essentially bought the U.S government and number 2 america isn't fighting for any noble cause and it rarely ever has.
Antrim if you are reading this you are a sheep and a psychologically enslaved moron who thinks that blindly fighting for nothing but a foreign banking cartel's profit stream from the resources of poor countries is "courageous" and "patriotic"

Agreed. If we were being invaded by a foreign military (or some similar scenario) than instituting the draft makes sense. In this respect, talk from people who view militarism such as Antrim as a "patriotic duty" that one would have to be a "coward" to not take part in would make sense. However, as you (FactMachine; as well as Nom and others) pointed out, not only have the wars since WWII not been necessary but they have actually been highly aggressive, destructive, and morally objectionable. In these cases, the "courageous" thing to do is to oppose such military hyper-aggressiveness.
For me, I think there's just types of people really.
I think that if enough people want to surrender to the new power and not cause bloodshed maybe just maybe it's the lesser evil than saying 'kill them or we kill you' which is low-key what a draft is based upon.
I'm a bit of a pushover in this way and don't worry about it.
For me, peace is paramount. Yes, yes I know you will say well what if one psychopath decides to rule the world. Well did I say I was against consensual war? All I'm saying is if some of your populace consider the lesser evil being surrender then you're just a bad leader of you blackmail them into suicide missions.
I could be wrong. I may be ignorant. I am just one person and speak only for myself.
