The same I think about violence in movies.... without it... it's just not entertaining.

I don't mind the violence.

What I mind is it claiming moral superiority in conjunction with the violence.

Would you like to ad a reason as to why you mind that? If you don't that is a statement, not an argument.

I never claimed my post was an argument instead of a statement. The topic asks for our opinion, which can be a statement.

Well, the bible is an Epic fantasy novel. nothing more, so it;s okay that there is violence in it. (please please don't write that it is your holy book, and you are offended and bible is a source of facts etc. it's just a book, quite interesting fantasy novel. a long with Qu'ran and other holy books

Care to explain why you think this? I'm just curious...

Sure, I am sorry I did not reply earlier, I was really busy and didn't have time to visit this website.

Well, first of all The Bible has all the characteristics of an epic fantasy novel. It says that it the things happen on the Earth however there are too many logical inconsistencies there. Such as the earth is less than 10000 years old, Noah's story, the story of great flood and many many others. Too many imaginary beings like Angels, which can be compared to characters of other novels like J.R.R Tolkien's Sillmarilion, the Valar. The Satan would be Melkor, Raphael would be Yavanna, and God would be Eru Illuvatar. I do not believe that the Bible is true, or the God that it describes actually exists because there is no single shred of evidence that God exists, The bible is full of nonsense, false data, fallacies like circular reasoning.

Why it is interesting? well it's just my opinion i found the stories exiting

What violence in the Bible are you talking about? You need to elaborate more on the debate. If you are talking about the Old Testament that is for the Jewish people and has nothing to do with Christianity because Christians follow the New Testament and the New Testament has no violence.

Matthew 10:34: Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

Luke 12:49-51: I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 But I have a baptism to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed! 51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.

Luke 22:35-38: And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

Matthew 10:21: Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.

All from the New Testament...

You forgot nearly the entire book of Revelations, too.

Its typical that atheists like you post things about the Bible without reading the verse after that or before it.

Matthew 10:34: Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

He meant that their will not be peace once you convert to Christianity because people will hate you because of Jesus and despise you.

Luke 12:49-51: I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 But I have a baptism to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed! 51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.

Again the same thing if you converted to Christianity

Matthew 10:21: Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.

Jesus was talking about how when people convert to Christianity people will betray other people, and some might be killed because they converted to Christianity and it has nothing to do with violence.

If you don't follow the old testament then you don't believe god created Earth, that the great flood did not happen and many other things.

the New Testament has no violence.

Ever heard of the book of Revelations?

What I meant was I don't follow the Jewish Law in the Bible where there is mostly killing. I still believe God made the earth and great flood actually happened.

Ever heard of the book of Revelations?

Yes I have heard about it but that is all prophecy of what is going to happen once the Rapture occurs and what is going to happen to the people who are left behind

well in that case the ten commandments don't apply to christians either

The authors of the bible were very smart and realized that eventually the stories would be made into a movie and they would have to compete with like Batman or something ;)

You can't have a proper moral guide unless you have a scene with bears ripping apart 42 children for bullying a baldy. This is common sense, people!

There is violence in the world, so violence in the Bible os necessary. The Bible is a scripture that teaches people and it would be a shame if it took 2000 pages and didn't explain a large issue that we have in the world.

Whoever said violence doesn't solve anything, is full of shit. When it comes down to it, violence solves just about everything. When the colonist landed in America, there were natives here. They could have asked them nicely to leave and fed them Ghandi bullshit, but eventually the MOVED them. When the colonies didn't have enough manpower, they could have gone to Africa and asked nicely for some cheap labor, but that wouldn't work.

They drug them here. When the slaves didn't want to work, they beat them. Years later, Japan started some shit. THey bombed them. When you're looking big picture,

the world is settled upon being able to execute violence. Why do police carry guns in America? So, the Bible has to be real about violence.

I think the violence should be excised from the Bible especially Leviticus 20:13.
