CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.
To learn more about the CreateDebate scoring system, check out the FAQ.
When you are ready to voice your opinion, use the Add Argument button to create an argument.
If you would like to address an existing argument, use the Support and Dispute link within that argument to create a new reply.
James Cameron the master film maker, really? Better then Scorsese, Kubrick, Stone, Gilliam, Hitchcock, Ford Coppola Tarantino, Spielberg, Polanski, Burton, Eastwood, De Palma, Cronenberg, Singer, Friedkin, Romero. Nolan is up and coming and I would say a better film maker than Cameron. I am not disputing the fact that he is a hero of yours but as a man with quite learned tastes I find it difficult to understand him being your post for master film maker.
I don't know who all of them are, but I'd rank Scorcese at a very close second. I never cared for Coppola. Spielberg's okay, but often childish. Polanski, De Palma, Romero - I've never really watched their films. Eastwood's one of the best. I've seen all of Tarantino's films, except for Inglorious Basterds, and I liked them a bit - Death Proof was horribly slow. Nolan's great, but not the best. Kubrick's alright, as is Stone.
Why Cameron?
Because, as I've said before, I watch movies to relax. I don't want to have to think during a movie, too. Sure, I like the occasional 'thinking' movie, but I prefer Terminator, Aliens, True Lies.
Sorry about that dispute, I had two bottles of red wine last night and forgot the run of myself, There was no need to dispute you on who your heroes were, this would probably be a dispute in a debate over best Director of all time. Your personal taste is irrefutable. I will down vote myself for this idiocy.
Why people would worry about having committed such an 'offense' is beyond me. You're not the only member of the sites I use who gets himself into trouble after getting drunk.
They are mainly the people I try to emulate: if I am learning (part of) a language, I'll think about Tolkien. If I'm lifting weights (when my back isn't hurting like hell), I think of Schwarzenegger. When I write a story, I think of King.
I wasn't worried about committing any offense, I realized what the debate topic was about only the next morning and thought my dispute looked stupid, I then wished to explain.
Ravana; he lived up to his dharma and attemped to save Sita from his negilgent husband Rama, all the while being shunned as the antagonist despite his obvious obedience to a higher moral code. I see myself also as a villan of an evil world, though I am comparatively powerless.
Here is something you need to learn about bodybuilders: THEY ARE ROCK HARD!
I watched the special features to the Total Recall DVD (Great movie, by the way). Sharon Stone, in a playful manner, punched Schwarzenegger. He hardly felt it, she bruised her entire lower arm.
All those thinkers and tinkers who set out to prove the impossible is possible. The eccentrics and the insane that now we take for grant it what cost them so much. R.G Letourneau, Rudolph Diesel, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Galileo, etc.
