Strong Evidence that Saint Paul was Gay

Image result for saint paul gay homosexual

I earlier noticed that as per usual AintNow was Gay bashing. He went so far as to call the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible "the first queer bible" only because one member of the book's founding board of bible scholar may have been a lesbian.
So as a progressive Christian who has a far deeper education on biblical history than AintNow, I feel it my duty to warn him that he should think twice before condemning Gays to his much-used and tiresome "lake of Fire."
  Why do I say this?

Read for yourself my brothers. There is an awful lot of compelling evidence that none other than Saint Paul--formerly known as Saul of Tarsus when he was killing Christians--was in fact an angst-ridden homosexual. This indeed explains a lot about his writings on self-loathing and how he "hates that I do the very things I do."

I will provide more evidence as the debate progresses. God Bless.

In his book, the Bishop (Spong) writes that he does not mean to be "salacious or titillating" by suggesting St. Paul was gay. But, he adds, "Nothing else, in my opinion, could account for Paul's self-judging rhetoric, his negative feeling toward his own body and his sense of being controlled by something he had no power to change."

Spong's stance is just conjecture that may be overreaching. It is a bit flimsy to conclusively say Paul was gay based on this. A book doesn't go through the same review process that a scholarly article would go through so I would be doubly skeptical of claims stemming from non scholarly sources.

When looking at this claim I see that this idea has a bit of a following but not from historians or other scholarly sources. There is plenty of 'biblical scholars' who reject this notion but they may not be considered an objective enough source on this issue to crush this idea.

To be clear I don't think the idea is off the table and would be a bit intersting to look at Pauls writings in this light but it just needs more backing from impartial scholarly/historical sources to be considered credible.

What yo say is true. Spong is my favorite current day Theologian, but I admit what he says about Paul is speculation on his part. But he IS a renowned biblical scholar and knows as much about Paul as anybody living today.

And he's not the only one to think Paul might have been a homosexual.

There are quite a few respectable theologians who think this.

Indeed it is possible.

Heck, we really don't know what Jesus' sexual preferance was either, do we? Either he was straight and therefore the Mary Magdelene connection may be real (which many would reject), or he was gay and may have had a special relationship with some of his followers (which many would reject), or he was utterly asexual which really doesn't give a god much of an understanding of what it means to be human.

How in the world anybody can think junk like this is "intellectual"......and actually pay somebody for writing a book about it? Is there any intelligent life down here, or is intelligence only an illusion caused by the rocks fizzing in your head so that the squirrels in your brain are continually confused?

This is for those who would like to know what the Bible teaches concerning Homosexuality ....

God bless the actual Children of God ... those not deceived by the Demon fake so-called "christians"

the bible actually teaches NOTHING about honosexuality. It only presents us the opinions of the biblical authors on the subject. The same guys who taught you that its OK to have slaves, or murder disobedient children, or kill women accused of adultery. ANY sort of science information should not be taken from the bible. It is not a good book for that. It rather is a compilation of very old scrolls that outline an ancient peoples' quest to know their God.

But i belive in the Bible too! I just don't belive it to be the inerrant word of God.

I think some of it is inspired by God. And I belive in the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels. I believe in the wisdom of the proverbs. I believe in the beauty of the psalms. I believe that we can learn life changing lessons from some of the Old Testamement stories. I just believe also that some of them were allegorical in nature. So what. Are you that shaky in your belief? That angry at the world? That you attack and call a coward anybody who does not believe as exactly you do?

I run from nobody. I will debate you on theology anytime. Name it. Prepare to get schooled. I'm at least a few notches up the scale from AintNow and dadman, who can only parrot chapter and verse.

and i really have no idea what your talking about here bro. I posted on the debate I thought was the correct one. Im still new here and don't know what all this copied debate stuff means. I just posted on the debate header I wanted to. How do you tell the difference on copied debates on original ones?

But I will be happy to address to you or debate you one on one on ANY topic of theology. Or homosexuality and the bible, or science and religion, or whatever floats your ark.

No one goes on your debate because you ban everyone .

Thank you, gorgeous. We all know this is the truth.

Alas, when I first came here I said I would never ban. But I had to make an exception in the AintNow case. I just couldn't tolerate having him disrupt my debates and go way off topic and then banning US for doing the same thing, and even to a lesser degree, on his own debates!

I think he will be the only nut I need to be. Maybe dadman, as he is proving to be another intolerant Christian a pretend Christian who gives us all who are in The Word a bad name.

God bless!!!

I have you points after he dowmvote you!

It doesn't really get any dumber than believing it is cowardly to run from debates and to run from every debate.
