I think “destroying” is putting it a little strongly, and is shifting the blame, which is the crux of the problem. Leftists do have problems with their thinking that are destructive.

1-The first problem is that the left is racist at its core. Leftists throw people into categories like race, gender, sexual preference, etc., as if these are pertinent categories that tell us anything useful. They make assumptions about peoplebased on these categories. They assume disadvantage, privilege, tendency toward racism, etc.

In reality, if I am told a person is Black, that gives me no useful information.

I cannot tell whether the person works hard, behaves responsibly, approaches problems courageously, fulfills obligations, demonstrates kindness, or any other substantial personal quality.

I cannot divine socio-economic status, profession, or educational attainment.

I cannot even figure out what music the person likes, whether he/she can dance, or likes watermelon and fried chicken.

2-Then the leftists insist that it matters if someone is Black. In general, leftist thinking automatically attributes suffering of hardship and disadvantages to people in the category. This inflates the credit for successes (against some invisible and pervasive system of anti-Black racism) and mitigates or removes personal accountability for failures.

By applying the assumption that Blacks are competing against White privilege, the left purveys the myth that success in our society (US) does not depend primarily on hard work, education, sound decision-making, learning from failure, and (in most professional venues) speaking correct English.

According to Ron Haskins at Brookings (https://www.brookings.edu/opinions/three-simple-rules-poor-teens-should-follow-to-join-the-middle-class/) people who do only three things are likely to avoid poverty:

- Complete high school (at a minimum)

- Work full time

- Marry before you have children.

For anyone who does all three, the chances of being poor fall from 12% to 2%. Moreover, the likelihood of becoming middle class or above rises from 56% to 74%. Alternately, for anyone (of any race) who leaves out one of these, the chances of being poor increase.

Despite the fact that everyone must learn and adjust to particular cultural requirements for economic success, leftists push the idea that these rules are intrinsic to a system that disadvantages Blacks. The result is often to discourage Blacks from doing those things everyone has to do to achieve success.

3-The left then implies or openly states that overcoming these assumed disadvantages and injustices to succeed depends on the left, or on leftist programs, or on changing the system. This puts the onus for change on everyone except the individuals who are failing.

In the video, Elder’s says his father said, “You cannot control the outcome, but you are 100% in control of the effort. Go to the nearest the mirror, and say, ‘what could I have done to change the outcome?’”

Leftist thinking discourages this particular type of self-examination and personal accountability, and as a result decreases the number of Blacks, especially poor, urban Blacks, from doing what success demands of everyone.

Leftist thinking results in poverty, discouragement, and decreased independence. And insofar as Black people buy into leftists ideas, they are hurting themselves.
