The first time I read the bible cover-to-cover, I was a believer....until I finished. That's what made me an atheist. I just couldn't believe it anymore. I've read it again, since, and studied it several times. Is it important enough to actually read it?Have you actually read it - all of it?
Can Anyone Give a Shred of Credible Evidence for *any* God?
I've heard all of the big apologists, and all of their big arguments, and every one of them is flawed rather considerably, and demonstrably so. Nobody has ever, of course, produced any empirical evidence. Science simply cannot be used to show evidence of a god, if that god exists outside of its realm. Personal experience cannot qualify for evidence, unless it's your own experience, so it means nothing to anybody else, objectively. What's left? Is there anything? I'm not asking for proof of a god - proofs are mathematical - but is there even the least reasonable evidence?
Yes, this one is for fun, or maybe to sharpen debate skills on something not so serious.Include all sub-genres.Try to be somewhat objective, and support your points. Video/audio could be quite useful!
This is not questioning whether the #Me, too movement was worthy - I believe it was - nor whether Alyssa Milano did wrong - I think she's done a great thing - but whether Time messed up when they awarded the Silence Breakers without putting Tarana Burke front and center, and recognizing the fight that she's been fighting fr approximately a decade, now. They mentioned her, but only just, buried deep in the article.
It's a private debate he's having with himself, about a nonexistent graph.http://www.createdebate.com/debate/show/The_Graph_of_the_rise_and_fall_of_America_s_greatnessWho's cleaning up this mess?
Nietzsche famously laid out the statement, "God s Dead". Was he right? What did he even mean?Black Sabbath confronted the concept - I find their take thought-provoking, so I'll leave the lyrics here:God is Dead?Lost in the darknessI fade from the lightFaith of my father, my brother, my Maker and SaviorHelp me make it through the nightBlood on my conscious (conscience?)And murder in mindOut of the gloom I rise up from my tomb into impending doomNow my body is my shrineThe blood runs freeThe rain turns redGive me the wineYou keep the breadThe voices echo in my headIs God alive or is God dead?Is God dead?It seems to have clipped the lyrics. Does a Debater Need Allies? Is there a Point Behind Declaring Enemies?
I may agree or disagree with any given debater, on any particular debate, or even any given point. I'm not genuinely a 'hostile' person, no matter how much I disagree, though some points I may debate aggressively. I'm an old hippie, and very liberal, but there are "conservative" points I'll agree with. I'm an atheist, but don't assume I won't agree with a theist on some issues.People are complex, and I assume that's generally true of all but the most simple-minded - who probably don't like debating, anyhow.I've been offered alliances, and pretty much ignored them. One turned hostile. I'm not here looking for allies, or enemies - just differing points of view...and similar ones, too, I suppose.Oh...and in the real world, I'd have no problem sitting down with a cup of coffee with any of you...unless you don't do coffee.
I am using only one account. The only socks I have are worn on my feet. I don't doubt that that's actually true for most here, but I keep seeing one accusation of sock account after another. This is hardly new...more like older than the internet. If you have a sock account - or more than one - man up. Claim it.
It often astounds me how ignorant Christians are of their religion. I've read the bible cover-to-cover...twice...the new testament several times more, studied it...read and studied commentaries...studied other religions...even read about the people and time, to get things in as good a context as possible. What's more, in every test I've ever seen, atheists score higher on biblical knowledge than Christians.Seriously, Christians, do you ever read that book, or do you really worship ignorance?
The average IQ of America is slipping. I submit that it's because we no longer focus on thinking critically.I will gladly expound upon my position, but let's see if there's any opposition.
