Do gods exist

So you think he means that there is no one supreme deity who created all things, and all the things called gods are not God who created all things? You have to define a deity and gods before I can decide if I believe they exist. I think you fit the description of a thing which has power over us and nature though you choose not to exercise that power. You could prove your power by killing everybody and burning everything to the ground, could you not? You have supernatural ability to manipulate nature, you prove it every time you move any part of your body...so you are a god, and I believe you are real. I do not believe you are God who created all things and has all power over all things, and knows all, and is everywhere. There is a difference between God who created all things and things that people call gods which if real were created by God and if imaginary were created by people or by other created things which may or may not be called gods. The word "gods" is hard to define because it is a plural noun open to varying ideas. The word "God" is a proper name which is easily and clearly defined as the One who created all things and was there before He created any thing. The word "God", as a proper noun, is not open to varying definitions. I have yet to see anybody here actually argue against God. They refuse to acknowledge that as God, He is the Creator of all things. They always try to change Him into something that is created and is not good rather than the Creator of all things who proves He is good by giving life to other things. Any time a person tries to make an argument against God, it goes against themselves, against their own life. Fighting against God is a lost cause, resulting in total loss for the one who resists God. 1

It would be impossible to prove one way or another. That is, unless a god came down from the heavens themselves and demonstrated their existence to the entire human race. Or if there was an actual way to test a god's existence. Or any solid proof at all. My stance is don't assume something is true unless there is a compelling reason to. -Most people being religious is not a compelling reason, but a fallacy. (See argument from popularity.) -The existence of a holy book doesn't prove anything. If I claimed Harry Potter was a prophet you wouldn't believe me, now would you? -Personal anecdotes mean nothing unless shown otherwise. If I claimed I saw a dragon it wouldn't mean anything unless I brought the dragon with me. (Most of those anecdotes can be explained anyways.) If you are going to believe in a god, do so because of a logical reason. |
