...and if Rebpublicans had any manners there wouldn't be any of those left either. Do you think for one second that had the President been white, such an outburst would have occured?

No, that wouldn't be a good idea at all. Many of the animals are born in captivity and have no idea what a jungle or natural habitat looks like. Besides it is educational for children and adults alike.

No kid at that age should be allowed to dye her hair. She'll have to do it professionally every month and she has no idea what dyed hair feels like wet or dry. You'd never get her hair to a champagne blonde without an expert colorist. Her hair will be like straw if she keeps doing it and I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Of course size matters! Don't let anyone tell you any differently either...they lie!

It doesn't but do you truly believe straight people won't have the same problem if the wording was ever changed? Gays, as you put it, wouldn't be welcome in that club either!

So did countless others when they passed the desegregation acts in Congress. They weren't wanted either but they broke the glass ceiling on that after many, many years of fighting for equal rights. Gays must also fight for their rights and one day, whether you like it or not, they will have them. You don't skirt the issues, you meet them head on.

Yes, they should make top dollar but I'm at a loss as to what yardstick they will use to measure the best! And what do you do with those who aren't the best? Do they just fall by the wayside or are they gotten rid of entirely? I think the entire pay structure should be changed to reflect the assets that teachers instill in our children. They are worth every dime we can pay them for what they do generation after generation.

It seems as though you're saying women with glasses cannot be dumb! That is hardly so. Glasses have everything to do with eyesight and nothing to do with intelligence.

It's unfortunate but most of the time it's true...overweight people do have overweight children. The parent (s) cannot control what they eat so they allow their children to have the same field day with food as they do. I don't know how much genetics paly a role in this but I've seen it time and time again. Parents don't see the injustice in what they're allowing their children to do when they eat as though tomorrow will never come and this is their last meal for the next week!

1. Where were you? I had just driven to an appointment I had with a potential buyer of our product.

2. What were you doing? As I walked into the house the woman I was supposed to be meeting was saying something about the World Trade Tower being hit but she didn't know if it was true...neither did I.

3. How old were you? 55

4. How did you feel? I felt afraid that it was true and when we saw the second plane hit the towers I ended my meeting with her and went home.

5. What was the worst thing you remember about that day? Once knowing it was true I worried about my brother whose office was right next door to the WTC. I had no word from him until that night when he told me he saw the second plane hit just as he had come outside to see about the first attack. All he remembers was running like the devil in the other direction. A terrible day for our country and all those innocent people who died.

I'm old fashioned...I'll take the blueberry or the orange!

Certainly they should and they must. They are the tools by which business is run every day in the world. I presume you term people as tools meaning workers and not oxen in the field. But that's how it works...you work and you get underpaid most times.

I can't stand them...they are such assholes. You simply cannot reason with them because they don't hear you to begin with. They think they're right and there's nothing else to be said but I've got news for them. They're not the end all and be all of everything. They're simply a piece of flea dung on a horse's ass.

The place for videos is, without a doubt, YouTube! No matter what you're looking for someone has it and on any topic you can imagine. It's a great site.

Suicide is seen as a selfish act because of the pain and suffering those left behind feel. This may be for many reasons, guilt not among the least. My niece committed suicide about a year and a half ago and the family has not gotten over this loss. She was 38 years old and in her prime. A fabulous fashion designer who seemed to have it all until she turned to alcohol. She literally drank herself to death and left us drowing in the aftermath. People have a right to do with what they wish to themselves but instead of reaching out for help, she reached for the bottle. I cannot imagine how she felt and I hope I never do. It's like being emotionally bankrupt and therefore giving up seems the only answer. Yes, it's a selfish answer but an answer nonetheless. I miss her every day and am still trying to make sense of it all. I don't know if I ever will.

His words certainly do not appeal to the heart...he's just rude! "It's My Party & I'll Cry If I Want To." It is not the way to act in a Town Hall meeting or any other type of gathering where the people meet with their representatives. All questions should be fielded whether they're opposed to your views or not.

I certainly believe this to be true. Everyone, no matter how clean you are, gives off an odor and that can creep into your mouth very quickly and give off a very unpleasant aroma. Best to be certain and at least use mouthwash afterwards. Some might find that insulting but it's just the reality of the situation.

I certainly hope the speech is about just that...education and its importance to young people in our country. I see no liberal agenda in this. I understand that some stations, like FOX are not going to carry the President's speech and that really is a shame. Why not put it in the open where our citizens can hear what he has to say?

I disagree Joe...it is about benefits but all manner of such. It's mostly about human rights and there should be no line of distinction drawn whether a person is striaght or gay. It is also about the love that exists between two people and therefore one wishes to be certain that the proper rights are included in their relationship. A relationship of great longevity can go awry in the end without the necessary 'contracts' and benefits you speak of and that is just not right nor is it fair to either party.

Sometimes it seems that way doesn't it? It seems there's no meat and gravy anymore just the trimmings. I'm just as guilty as the next regular here though. I can't seem to come up with anything that really sticks but I know I'm having a focus problem right now too. I'll try harder or just let it ride for a while and see what comes up.

No president can overturn Roe V. Wade...only the Supreme Court can do that. I voted for Obama because I thought he could bring change to our country and he's trying to do just that. Even with the quagmire called Health Reform he's a better president than McCain could have ever been. At this juncture I still say Obama, all the way.

It cannot do so for the only thing a computer knows is what you program it to do. It may exceed some people's minds but certainly not all.

Yes, they should be. Even though it's not something many people do I truly wish people would see it as a responsibility for all your parents have given you...and for quite a number of years. I took care of my mother for the last nine months of her life and it was the best thing I ever did and the thing I am most proudest of. It wasn't easy but I felt it was necessary to do so. If I had it to do over I'd do exactly the same thing!

So many things to choose from but I'll go with a glorious sunset in summer where the colors of the sky are thrilling to see as the sun dips ever downward until it's gone. Sometimes the colors linger just a bit and the power of that is amazing.

The exclamation point and the three dots does it for me. I use the three dots frequently as I do the exclamation point to put a pause into a sentence and to denote an important portion of text.

"Yeah, I bet all you queers are gonna jump my ass for saying that,"

I'm going to "jump your ass" for being tasteless for calling us queers and arrogant enough to think that anyone is going to give you street cred for saying what you wish to. There's a way to say things that doesn't insult a person nagtroll...you just haven't learned how to do that yet! Grow up little man and stop thinking that people are going to oooo and ahhhh because you said "that's fucked up." Wow what a revelation.

Wait....no, what? I always thought that! LOL!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

There is one under the debate set up option. ``````````````````````````````````

I stand corrected...I forgot my decimal point but I still think that a tick over a half a % point is way too much considering all else.

The NOAA should take precedence over NASA and most especially at this time where we cannot afford to waste a dime on things that don't give much back and that are so distant. Besides that .6% of the Federal budget is way out of line in today's world of overwhelming deficits.

I'm such a cock-eyed optimist when it comes to these things that I'd like to say yes to this. If everyone in the world acted with love in their hearts the world would be a much better and healthier place to live. As long as we're not accepting of our brothers and sisters, no matter where they live or what they believe the world cannot turn without war, fear and personal strife. Yes, all you really need is love.

I'd like for there to be a way to know if a person has been inactive so I can pare down my lists of allies and hostiles. I have no enemies outside of those who declared me theirs a long time ago and are no longer posting on this site. I think if a person has been inactive for 60 days they should forfeit their points and clear their boards of any allies and/or enemies they may have!

I guess I'm gonna change my mind about Obama!!! But seriously, I have also learned a lot by debating here and I'm always looking for new information to either cement my own ideas or re-think them. It's a great way to get new information, especially on what you may believe to be truth as opposed to knowing what the truth is.

No, of course abortions should not be banned for you would have them anyway regardless of safety, funding or anything else that might get in the way. We would be back in the days of the butcher shops and that wouldn't be good for anyone. Abortion is not a trivial matter and is one that must be thought out thoroughly by the person or persons involved. I wouldn't like to see us take such a serious step lightly nor would I like to see us take a step backwards in time.

Is this another video game or am I just not understanding what the topic is?

To be un-American is to go along with the voice of the masses and not say what you wish to say, no matter how far removed it is. It is to NOT protest when needs be. It is to constantly complain about it and never do anything to make your life here any different than it is. It is to not make a difference when you know that you can.

I normally awaken at about 11:15 AM, have my coffee, talk to my daughter for about an hour or so and then get dressed to walk my dog. I then attend any Dr. appointments or PT appointments I have and then get home at about 5:00 PM.

There is, sad to say, not a lot of fun in my life anymore. I like to spend some time on the computer because it doesn't overtax my back. My back, or what's left of it rules my life in a very bad way. I can't drive all that much because my legs go numb when I do. If I visit with someone I'm usually wiped out from the time and the type of seating I am forced to sit on while I'm there. My library/computer chair is the most comfortable for me.

I'm not that happy with my life as it is so I'll give that a 4.

I'm generally happy with the lives of those around me so I'll give that a 6-7. I'm happy if their lives are good and they're having the fun that I cannot.

I don't work anymore but I was very happy with my last job so I'll give that an 8.

They try to point out how radical their views really are by comparison to the people's wishes. Sometimes they do call names but not to the extent they would have you believe.

Yes, it always has been so but never more so than in the Viet Nam era where there seemed to be a flag going up in flames every five minutes. People felt disenfranchised from their own country during this time and they showed it by marching burning the flag and dozens of other types of protests against the war. It was a tragic time.

I couldn't agree more. No one is being coersed into patronizing the pub or working there. As a matter of fact I wish they would come up with a plan to make smoking only bars and restaurants and watch them fill up like mad. No smoker wants to be deprived of their pleasures and nowhere more so than a bar or restaurant!

Can I have a good laugh too? Who are you anyway? ``````````````````````````````````````````

As of today the rate of unemployment sits at 9.7%, the highest it's been in 26 years!

Can we get to the point? What WHATTTTTT????? ````````````````````````````````````````

It is supposed to be motivational but I have a sneaking suspision he'll get in some politics as well! I don't know what age group (s) he'll be speaking to but if they are younger students I should think the political aspects would be lost on them.

Points are irrelovant here. The only thing it shows is longevity and an amout of debates created and points made within a debate. I can't think of a single reason to give them away and yet, I don't understand why we have them either!

Whether or not you're surrounded by people you know or others that are themselves dying you always face that solitary singular moment alone.

No we shouldn't and to what end should we? If we did have a status report mine would probably be..."Kukla is wondering if there anything worth debating today?"

Well maybe just a little! ```````````````````````````````````````

I believe it was Albert Einstein who had more to do with modern physics and quantum physics than Newton ever did.

It looks as though they're going with formula movies rather than original screenplays. They bank on the success of the former movie and sometimes they're right but not always. Even the box office is looking for a sure thing. The screenwriters must be on sabbatical or something. I'm not sure where "Dirty Basterds" (sic) came from but it blasted out the box office last week-end.

...I called Social Security last week to offer them part of my money back at 10% and they refused! There's gratitude for ya.

Sure, let me get busted for MJ possession and I'll gladly take the 100K to pay off my bills and live crime free. Sounds like a fair exchange to me!

I agree! I think that is the worst thing you could call a woman but how about a guy? Is there anything that just doesn't roll off their backs and that they would take seriously?

Joe...what possible difference could it make to the question if the parties were gay. I don't think that's what was meant at all.

You're right Jake...and I'm wrong, so sorry. It can't be ALL Texans but I wish I knew what the ratio is.

-2 points

Do you mean your first cousin or someone that is more removed than that?

Can you, perhaps, give us some examples of those laws? ````````````````````````````````````````````

You're questioning if agreements wouldn't be better than laws are you not? If I'm missing something by what you've written, please explain and I would be happy to re-read your explanation.

eace and then development should be the order of business lest they destroy what we are trying to build. We would have no idea where to begin outside of planning what really needs to be re-developed or begun anew.

I think it can certainly sell anything from cars to carpeting and perfume to deodorant and most everything in-between. Anything that is perceived to be sexy can be sold with an element of sex or sexiness thrown into the mix.

I've sampled a few reality shows and find them quite boring. Outside of shows like American Idol, I wish they'd ditch them for something a bit more entertaining.

I hadn't thought about someone outside the beltway. Stossel is a good pick!

I would say that Adolph Hitler is the more well known of the two. Everyone knows something about him or WW II and the third Reich. Not many remember what Bonaparte did or how infamous he was.

They can be if the right viewing channels are chosen! There are many programs that are educational and useful to a child on PBS, the Discovery channel, the History channel, Animal Planet, etc. If you use the TV for a time filler you're wasting precious hours.

Unless you keep your wits about you at all times. which is almost impossible, your arguments will have a strong effect on the children. Imagine being privy to all the name calling, accusations and the rest of what goes with two people who are miserable with one another. I grew up in a situation like that and when my father finally left our home those were the best days, months and years of my life. I fell asleep nightly to the screaming arguments that were going on right under my bedroom, in our living room and it was no picnic. It was difficult for anyone to breathe freely when they were at it, which was most of the time. I remember praying that he would just leave and for their divorce which was exactly what happened after some time had gone by. Staying together for the sake of the kids is a standard excuse which holds no water for me.

Even in the case of adultery, it takes two to break a marriage. This has nothing to do with forgiveness it has to do with why one of the partners felt the need to go outside of the marriage for either physical or emotional uplifting. When there are problems in a marriage it takes two in order to recognize them and two to figure out how to best handle whatever the situation is. People also grow apart after some time together. It takes two to keep a marriage fresh and alive on a daily basis and watch the signposts on the road to trouble.

I found a site that had some very interesting stats on it and one that proved what I had merely been thinking. Less people are married today then they were, say, 30 years ago, and more people are divorced and in second marriages that also don't work. I think there are many factors that come into play here not the least of which in the "broadening of societal values." Take a look at the stats...they're amazing.

Supporting Evidence: Marriage and Divorce (www.meninmarriage.com)

I certainly can support your idea but being an ex president would be very problematical, at the very least. Besides, I don't know if it would be possible. I had always thought just having him around to bounce things off of would have served her very well.

Of course they do. We cannot run around the world criticizing others countries for not upholding legal or human rights and then hide behind a barbed wire fence as we commit the same travesties ourselves. They deserve everything and anything that any citizen would receive under our military justice and system of humanity. What happened to the Geneva Convention?

I can dig it...then he too, would have received the Medal of Freedom from his wife, the prez!

The budget would be a complete disaster if we did it that way. The government counts on a certain amount of tax dollars coming into the accounts and also has the obligation to use that money where it is needed most, like education, defense and so many other things. I don't see how we could ever balance a budget if people only contributed their fair share to whatever interests them the most!

I hear what you're saying hamandcheese but I worry that because they are so scattered if we'll ever be able to crush them. I don't know if bin Laden is dead or not but if he isn't, wouldn't he always be at the center of the rallying cry for the Taliban and Al-Qaeda?

I don't see anything wrong with allowing your emotions to slip in but I do believe thought should be the one thing that rules your decision making and moral choices. Emotions without thought behind them can be damaging to the logic of any situation.

I cannot think of one reason why they should limit them. That would hardly be fair to anyone who is or has been prosecuted under the torture rules. I say go for anyone and every one Holder thhinks he has a case against.

I'll go back to my original pick for president and that would be Hillary Rodham Clinton. I would love to see such a bright, educated and intelligent woman in the White House as president.

I don't like personal debates about people on the site or something you might know about a person being disguised as a debate. I remember once I put one up against Joe because he was getting on my nerves too much but I have to say I'm sorry for that...it just wasn't fair. I've also put up debates against down voters but I'm NOT sorry about those at all!

Fine minds think alike here! I wasn't thinking in this direction but let 'er rip, lol!

I'll go ya one up and pick Ann Colter against President Obama. OMG what a fiasco that would be. I'll give it a 10 for sheer entertainment value!

Yes we have Jake and I can't wait for the next election, lol! I'll be anxious to see if Mitt runs again and where Obama is a few years from now.

I haven't seen any evidence of it either. They've been talking about 2012 for years now and guess what...we're just going to have to wait and see what happens. Wait, let me get my Nostradamus predictions!

Can you imagine the chaos that would ensue if we had agreements instead of laws? We have no right to agreement after a law is established unless it's an unlawful law! This is why we elect the legislature in the country so that people, far better equipped than we are, to sort out all these things.

So I murder the members of my Condo Association because I don't think they're doing a good job and I disagree with the law that says I'm going to jail because of what I did. Explain to me, what happens next. Am I free to go have a picnic in the park?

The only thing I know about MAC's in that their graphics and music are so much better than a PC. I need help too, or so it seems.

Dumb isn't the word! One has to wonder why oh why the driver didn't pass that phone over to the passenger so they could continue to text while the driver concentrated on the road. I guess the point would have been lost had they done it but oh my, I was very upset by this and yes, I actually vomited after seeing it.

I would pick Bradford and Xaeon and have them have at it on Philosophy. Wait, let me get my sleeping pills, LMAO!

While I love Jake in so many ways and while it's true we are on opposite ends on most things, I too would not be bothered by having a one on one with him. I would hate to ruin a friendship, however...LOL!!!

I think it depends on which vantage point you're coming from. There is much to be said about electronic debates as opposed to oral debates insofar as preparation or lack thereof is concerned. Here you don't necessarily have to be prepared whereas in an oral argument you must be and if you're not, you must hope that someone else on the team is. Not so in oral argument...you must have it on the tip of your tongue if you hope to win. On CD you can go back and look things up to prove your further and drive it home. I don't, however, see there being an end to either type and must say that they are both very useful in their own way.

What a ridiculous debate! Who cares about such things anyway? Strength in any way does not come because you are straight or gay. It comes because you wish to be physically or emotionally strong. No one has the corner on that market...it's open to everyone, straight or gay!

They must be effective lest we lose more lives to having "fun" while driving. The video actually made me sick and I will never use my cell phone while driving again unless I stop first and get off the road. Nothing is worth this...nothing!

I support you 100%. No one should ever judge a book by it's cover. One must avail themselves of the opportunity to learn about the subject at hand.

I cannot "make" a person feel anything that their life experience doesn't tell them to feel. I'm responsible for my feelings and what I do with them and you are responsible for yours and what you do with them. If one touches a hot spot within someone, one can't possibly know they are doing that unless you know each other very well. It would be wrong to do so if you knew and in that case you may bear some responsibility in what the other person feels because you know what you've illicited within them. Not a good or kind idea, that!

At times CD does remind me of a dysfunctional family but that's ok! I'm one of it's most dysfunctional members and I belong to the community of CD as well as everyone else does. I don't judge people by the length of their argumants just what is most important within them. It's interesting to watch a simple debate turn into a real debate between those who have the knowledge.

I don't know if Star Wars is actually better than LOTR but it certainly is different from it. I have a personal love affair with Star Wars so I think it's better than LOTR by any stretch.

I'm not for turning this into a classroom of sorts. If a pro wants to post, that's fine, but I wouldn't care to pay for the information. I'd rather take a well rounded class elswhere, thank you!

I personally don't think we can win this war without killing Osama bin Laden. I doubt that breaking or crippling the Taliban or Al-Qaeda would be considered a win for us. Given the topography of the region I don't think we can smoke them all out of their mountainous dugouts or small villages without great loss of life to our soldiers. I think I've lost the objective to this mission!!!

Most everything is a Universal Truth until that truth is shattered by more recent information.
